Key Benefits
- Very good, reliable biscuit wheat with consistent yield
- Proven performance over many years and in difficult harvests
- Reliable on farm - allows for flexible rotational position
Consort is a good quality biscuit wheat which has a specific recommendation for the North.
Agronomy
With its stiff straw, Consort is easy to grow and can exploit high yielding situations for maximum output.
It is a slow developing variety, which can be sown in the early drill slot through to late January.
Resistance is generally good for Consort but crops should be monitored for Septoria tritici and brown rust. Consort shows continued resistance to both Brigadier and Equinox strains of yellow rust and has good resistance to Fusarium ear blight.
Consort tolerates take-all infections well, making it the ideal choice for early drilling after set-aside, or as 2nd biscuit wheat where take-all can be a problem.
